The letters do double duty. They pay like normal symbols, but line up all five to spell DEATH on a horizontal row and you trigger the feature the whole game is named after. That is the twist: the weakest symbols on the reels open the strongest round.

The features that carry the game

Death Becomes You lives and dies on two duel mechanics. Both are built on the same idea, a fight where the multiplier is the prize.

DuelReels: monsters, Wilds and stacked multipliers

When a VS symbol lands and can be part of a win, it expands to fill its entire reel and turns Wild. That is a DuelReel. It kicks off a duel between dark and light powers. Light always offers the bigger multiplier, but light does not always win. Whatever survives is applied as a x2 to x100 multiplier to the wins connected to that reel.

Duel with Death: the giant Wild that fights for its multiplier

Spell DEATH on a horizontal line and the boss arrives. The three middle reels merge into one huge Wild, and a life meter with three hearts appears. Then the duels begin. Every duel Life wins adds the current multiplier to your running total. Every duel Death wins costs you a heart. When the third heart is gone, the reels stop and the final multiplier is paid.

Death always wins in the end. The skill, and the luck, is in how many rounds you survive first. Stretch it long enough and a modest line win gets multiplied into the kind of number that made the trailers.
